Quality System
This standard specifies the requirements and guidance for a occupational health and safety management system, with the aim of enabling organizations to provide safe and healthy working conditions that prevent work‑related injuries and ill health, while proactively improving occupational health and safety performance. This includes taking into account applicable legal and regulatory requirements as well as other relevant requirements, and establishing and implementing an occupational health and safety policy and objectives.
This standard is intended to be applicable to organizations of varying sizes, types, and activities, and to occupational health and safety risks under the organization’s control, taking into account the context in which the organization operates as well as the needs and expectations of its employees and other interested parties. This standard enables organizations, through their occupational health and safety management system, to integrate other aspects of health and safety, such as employee health and well-being.
To harmonize international automotive quality system standards, a dedicated organization known as the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) was established in 1996 by leading global automakers and industry associations. IATF members include the International Organization for Standardization’s Technical Committee on Quality Management and Quality Assurance (ISO/TC 176), the Italian National Association of the Automotive Industry (ANFIA), the French Automobile Manufacturers Committee (CCFA) and the Federation of the Automotive Equipment Industries (FIEV), the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), as well as automakers such as BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Renault, and Volkswagen.
ISO 9001 certification is one of the core standards within the ISO 9000 family of quality management system standards. The ISO 9000 family was introduced by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1994 and refers to international standards developed by ISO/TC 176, the Technical Committee on Quality Management and Quality Assurance. Enterprises that have obtained ISO 9001 certification have integrated their various management systems in accordance with international standards, demonstrating their ability to consistently and reliably deliver products that meet customer expectations and are of satisfactory quality.
ISO 14001 certification, formally known as ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification, refers to a conformity assessment activity conducted by a third-party certification body in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard. ISO 14001 certification is applicable to any organization—whether an enterprise, institution, or relevant government entity—and, upon certification, demonstrates that the organization’s environmental management system meets international standards as reflected in the ISO 14001 logo. It ensures that the organization can effectively control various pollutants across its processes, products, and activities in compliance with applicable requirements, thereby helping the organization build a positive public image.
